Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response
The Kitsap County Health District’s Emergency Preparedness
and Response Plan is designed for all types of public health emergencies.
The plan defines roles and responsibilities for four phases of emergencies:
mitigation, planning, response and recovery. It is linked with other
emergency response organizations in Kitsap County and their respective
emergency plans. It also provides a link to regional and state plans.
Emergency planning with key community partners is essential. These
partners include the Kitsap
County Department of Emergency Management (DEM) local law enforcement,
fire departments, emergency medical services (EMS), hospitals and
volunteer organizations such as the American Red Cross. Our emergency
preparedness and response plan is strengthened through training
and exercises on a regular basis.
In the event of an emergency, the Kitsap County Health District
would communicate with the public through the local media. Information
will be posted to this website and the District’s Health Information
Line (360-307-4235) and will be updated with current information.
In addition to emergency preparedness efforts in Kitsap County,
the Kitsap County Health District was appointed by the Washington
State Department of Health to lead public health emergency preparedness
planning for a three-county Western Washington region. The counties
in this region include: Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap Counties.
