Pregnancy Services

First Steps is a program to help income eligible pregnant women get the health and social services they may need to be a healthy mom and to have a healthy baby.

Program benefits include:

  • Medical coverage for mother and baby.
  • Free bus passes or Paratransit to doctor visits.
  • Funding for child care during doctor visits.
   
  • Free in-home education and support from a Public Health Nurse.
  • Free short term, in-home counseling from a Behavior Health Specialist.
  • Linkages to community resources.
   
  • Childbirth classes to help you prepare for delivery.
  • WIC nutrition services.
  • Free family planning up to 1 year after the birth of the baby.
