Children with special
health care Needs

Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) is a federally funded program for children with special health and/or developmental needs or for children who are at risk for special health and/or developmental problems. Services to children and families may include:

• Telephone consultations with the program coordinator.
• Home visits with a Public Health Nurse or the program coordinator.
• Information, referral and resource coordination.

Additional CSHCN services include:

• Assistance with SSI benefits applications, Medicaid applications and exemptions from Healthy Options.
• Approval of Medicaid payment for hearing aid services provided to Medicaid children.
• Limited financial assistance with Medicaid denied services.
