Motor Vehicle Safety

STOP AND THINK
ABOUT THIS:
Driving to and from work, school or the store is one of the most
dangerous things you do!
Motor vehicle travel is the primary
means of transportation in
the U. S
AND
Motor vehicle crashes are the leasing
cause of death for every age from 1 through 34.
In Kitsap County between 1997-2001 100 people
died in motor vehicle crashes and an additional 460 were injured
seriously enough to be admitted into a hospital (Washington State
Department of Health, Center for Health Statistics, 2002).
We have many laws and programs that have reduced
drinking and driving, increased seat belt and car seat use and had
a major role in reducing motor vehicle injury and death.
Despite these advances there is still much work to be done.
Do your part:
Don't drink and drive. Always wear your safety belt. Don't speed
or drag race. Avoid driving when you are tired. Do not drive aggressively
or participate in road rage. Keep your eyes on the road. Obey the
speed limit and safety signs. Keep your car in good driving condition
and keep it insured. Stay alert.
