Car Seats
& Boosters
Automobile crashes are the number one preventable
crippler and killer of children. Correct and consistent use of a
child seat or seat belt can greatly reduce the chance of injury
or death by more than 60%.
Tips:
- There is no "best" car seat. The
best seat is one that fits your child, has easy to adjust harness
and can be secured tightly with your vehicle seat belt system.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for
installation of the child car seats or have a free child safety
seat checks. Locations listed below.
- Put children in the back seat. It's the safest
place. (If there are not enough seat belts in the rear seats,
usually the oldest/largest child would be the most appropriate
to seat in the front, making sure lap and shoulder belts are properly
fastened and move the vehicle seat back as far
as
possible away from the dashboard.)
- Select the type of child safety restraints
appropriate for the child's age and weight.
- Don't start the car until everyone buckles
up-every time.
- For questions and more information please
consult the list of links on this webpage.
The time to protect your child is before
the need arises. Adults be a role models, always buckle your own
seat belt and protect your child in a child car seat or seat belt
every time you ride in a motor vehicle.
